Meet Your Komen Nevada Staff
Stephanie Kirby has resided in Las Vegas for 17 years. A transplant from New York State, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. After moving to Las Vegas, Stephanie began a master’s program and graduated in 2005 with a degree in school counseling from the University of Nevada Las Vegas while working for the College of Southern Nevada as a recruiter. Stephanie began volunteering for Susan G. Komen Nevada in 2002 and happily served as Race for the Cure Co-Chair in 2005 and Tri-Chair in 2006. Hired in 2008 as the Race Manager, Stephanie was thrilled to be able to devote all of her professional (and a lot of personal!) time working side-by-side with her talented co-workers and an army of tremendously dedicated volunteers to plan the Las Vegas Race for the Cure. Since becoming the Executive Director in 2009, Stephanie continues to plan events, but also spends a great deal of time creating and maintaining wonderful partnerships in the community in an effort to further the cause. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys being with her two young children and shuttling them to their endless activities, games and tournaments throughout the valley. She also enjoy home projects and spending time with fabulous friends. Having lost her mother and an aunt to breast cancer, Stephanie is determined to do all she can to help find the cures for this disease and support the many women and men in our state who have been affected.

Affiliate Operations Manager
Katie Breuer is originally from Northern California and has lived in Nevada since 1992. She was a resident of Boulder City for 18 years until she moved to Las Vegas in 2010. Her journey with Susan G. Komen Nevada began when she was looking for a part time job while attending UNLV as a full time student. A friend told her about a job opening at a local breast cancer organization. Katie didn’t know anything about breast cancer and had never participated in a Race for the Cure, but decided to apply. Little did she know what was in store for her. She was hired to work a few days a week as the Office Coordinator with the understanding that, when she graduated in two years, she would move on to pursue a career with her degree. In 2009, she received her Bachelors in journalism & media studies, but was absolutely not ready to leave Komen. She asked to become a full time employee and has been ever since. She is now the Affiliate Operations Manager and feels that this job is one of the greatest blessings in her life. Over the last 8 years, she has met some of the most amazing volunteers and survivors who have become what she lovingly refers to as her Komen Family. Her commitment to this organization and cause runs deep. She feels honored to represent Komen Nevada in the fight against breast cancer, working side by side with her marvelous co-workers who have become her dearest friends. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family more than anything. She loves relaxing at home with her husband, John, their one-year old son, Jack and her two crazy mini-schnauzers, Coco and Lily.
